We just got the rehearsal schedule for the dance trip I'm going on and it just dawned on me as to how close yet so far away it is!! I'm excited, nervous and everything in between. I can't wait!!!

The Fox Trot

This weekend was unexciting. I did nothing out of the ordinary except RSVP to one of my close friends birthday parties and watch Dirty Dancing. Funny story about Dirty Dancing, my dad walks in on me watching it almost everytime I have it on.  He did it this weekend too! I always laugh at him because Dirty Dancing is one of the only movies that I love that he knows the name of. I'm not sure why Dirty Dancing sticks with him and movies like Breakfast At Tiffany's or Roman Holliday fly out of his brain quicker than algebra did.
It's warm here today so I decided to bust out this darling fauna print dress. I love this dress. I think there's something so cute about quirky prints. I also decided to wear my favorite pair of summer heels. They aren't very practical for walking long distances but boy do they look good. I can't wait until it gets deeper into spring and I can take pictures at some of the places I've got listed in my notebook. I've been piling them up all winter.
I'm Wearing:
Dress: Stitches
Cardigan: Forever 21
Heels: Target [Similar]
Belt: 579
Bracelt: "Borrowed" from my Aunt
Sunglasses: Don't Remember

Breakin' Up

It's been raining-no thunder storming here for the past few days and I don't like it. I love the rain. It's peaceful, it's cleansing but I can't stand thunderstorms. My dad is a former firefighter who loves to watch the lightning dance with our drapes wide open. While he's doing this he's usually telling me some lightning related story that scares me out of my wits. Barns glowing rainbows because of lightning strikes, lightning striking his CB antenna that sat on his house and so on. I get so scared that I usually jump every time it thunders. I feel like this is such a childish fear, I know the science behind thunderstorms but I am still afraid of them. Are any of you afraid of thunderstorms?
This outfit is a fun outfit I put together at the last second. I was originally going to wear a shirt under the dress like I did in this post but then this cardigan caught my eye. I've worn this cardigan multiple times and I love wearing it each time. The texture of it gives everything I wear it with a beautiful twist. This dress is one of my favorite pieces, it's got the cutest scallops and the prettiest turquoise color. To add some color I broke the dress up with a pink belt and the lovely cardigan I just talked about.
I'm Wearing:

Cardigan:  Charlotte Russe

Peachy peach.

I've been having really strange dreams lately, extremely strange. Most of them have been dance/performing related. But in one I was visited by a dead star. That had to be the freakiest one because I had just watched a documentary about the star a few days prior to the dream. It all felt so real yet I can't decipher what the heck  it means. The ones about dance aren't uncommon, I've been having those for year. They're usually all the same, I fall out of turn and land face first, I get injured during recital. You know the usual stuff dancers dream about. But the one where I was having a conversation with someone who has been dead for over 50 years is new. I've never had a dream even remotely like it. I woke up and thought to myself, what the heck just happened. Have any of you ever had a strange dream like that?
This dress is one of the only floral print piece I own. I love floral don't get me wrong but my closet is mainly filled with polka dots.I actually bought this gorgeous peach dress last summer toward the end of it and never had a chance to wear it. Now that the weathers slowly warming up I decided to break it out. Its even got pockets. How much better could this dress get?
I'm Wearing:
Dress: H&M via Yesterday's Sweetheart
Blouse: Thrifted

Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Pink and Pepper

The Thigh Gap

Lately I've been seeing girls on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram obsessing over a thigh gap. Some of them are going on "diets". Some are working out in unhealthy amounts. And some are starving themselves to get a thigh gap. I see this as wrong. None of those girls obsessing about thigh gaps are "fat". In fact most of them are skinny. I hate that society has deemed a thigh gap (amongst other things) necessary to be beautiful. Those girls are beautiful without a thigh gap. It makes me sick that society says you need a thigh gap to be beautiful.
As a person who has a thigh gap let me tell you it's not a big deal. I don't get comments about the gap between my legs. No guy (or girl for that matter) says to me “You have a thigh gap! Oh my, you're so beautiful!” I doubt they think that too. People don't really think about whether you thighs touch when you meet them. Nobody really notices, usually they're staring at your face and not you thighs. It’s such a minuscule thing to get caught up on. To me it makes no sense that a gap that’s probably no bigger than 2 inches is so important. I just don't see it. I just don’t.
I'm not going to say that I think society should be nicer, even though I do. The law of the land is written as society is one harsh person. They've created this “perfect image” that doesn't exist. They believe a person should be super skinny, have great hair, big boobs and is medium height . Nobody fits that perfect build. For example, I’m 5’ 7.5 (If I have particularly good posture that day). I'm relatively tall for a female and I have long legs and all the good stuff happening with that but I also have boobs that measure 31.5. So you see I don't fit the “perfect image”. Nobody does. Not even Miranda Kerr, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel* or even the lovely Marilyn Monroe who is considered one of the most beautiful people ever. (P.S. Marilyn’s measurements were: 35-37, 22-23, 35-36.)
I believe that if everyone stops obsessing over what they don't have and starts appreciating what they do have then society would not be so harsh. Society would not be marked with things like thigh gaps, flat stomachs or hip bones.  Then maybe people would appreciate real beauty more than appearance.

*I just want to be Jessica because her hubby is all kinds of gorgeous.

What I'd Wear: Spring Sparkles

On Friday one of my favorite internet bloggers/personalities and people in general Keltie Colleen posted this picture on instagram. Keltie works for OMG! Insider so her outfit are usually amazing. They're not something I'd wear but still amazing. (I especially love this one and this one!) Enough about that and back to what I meant to talk about in the first place. I loved Keltie's dress in the picture she posted on Friday so I made an outfit inspired by it. (PS Keltie's dress can be found here!)

Spring Sparkles Details: Dress:Modcloth Shoes: J.Crew Bracelet: Pink Pineapple Belt: Lulu*s Clutch: Asos

This Modcloth dress is so gorgeous. The peplum is on trend right now as are sequins. Who doesn't love to sparkle once in awhile? The answer: boring people, that's who. I am certainly not a boring person (oh who am I kidding...) To add a splash of color and springy-ness I added a green bow belt and a floral clutch.  I'd love to wear this out, the sparkles would be a hit! What do you think?

Old Red Caboose

On Saturday my dad and I headed out to one of the many many hobby stores in Buffalo, Niagara Hobby and Craft Mart. This one though is different. It's a cute private owned shop that has all the charm of a shop owned by a person not a corporation. It's also the place my dad and I have been going for all our hobby and craft needs since I was knee high to a grasshopper.
What really makes this place different is the old red caboose that sits outside the store. The caboose is from 1949 and has been completely restored with help from the community. The founder of Niagara Hobby and Craft mart bought it many many years ago from a local man after years of searching for one. The man originally bought it for his grandchildren to enjoy but was more than happy (after a bit of persuasion)  to let it become a historical piece that's open to the public. Today it sits in front of Niagara Hobby and Craft Mart on a piece of track that was built by hand. (My dad found that fact particularly fascinating.) It is completely open to the public and little kids love it!!
I'm Wearing:
Sweater: Prabal Gurung for Target
Pants: Aeropostale [old]
Necklace: Sierns
Glasses: C/O Firmoo
Shoes: Pink and Pepper
